Introducing Vedic/Indian astrology
The Vedic astrology forms one of the core underlying philosophy of Indian culture and Hinduism. The word 'joytish' derives its origin from the combination of two Sanskrit words – Jyoti and Ish. The primer means light and the former means lord, combining to form the the science of light, a means to illuminate the one's life who learn it with devotion.
According to the Purana's astrology was originated at the beginning of the universe, then transmitted orally from generations to generations. From the historical point of view, the ancient man started co-relating the position of stars and planets to the seasonal changes and his personal fortunes. The rishi’s and yogis developed an accurate planetary-model and a system which precisely predicts how the alignments can affect the human life.
The earliest reference to jyotish shastra is found in the opening verse of the ancient vedic text, “Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra”. The Vedic astrology and Vedic philosophy remained inextricably interleaved and occupied the same reverence for generations. With the passing of generations the factions of joytisha was extracted to form the vedanga's. Today the mainstream Indian jyotish is the refined versions of two astrology sciences nakshatra vigyam (or astronomy) and phalit jyotish (predictive astrology).

These nine parts consists of 7 planets and 2 nodes of Moon at combinations of Mahadasa,Antardasha's etc...which can be further subdivided into various configurations. It represents the time-periods in accordance with the actual passage of time. A skilled astrologer can accurately understand the karma's of this life and previous life's through the study of vimshottari system. It can also accurately predict the behavioral traits and affairs of the subject.
This system of analysis not only throws light into real real problem, but gives you realistic scientific solutions for the problems. The dosha moksha can be obtained through paying temple visits, chants, yoga, giving dakshina, abstinence from various activities...These activities not only solves the dasha problems, but gives you a fresh perspective about life.
The modern Stewards of Indian Astrology
The present astrology has not been formulated by the ancient maharishi's but has also seen contributions from modern Stewards. The great Late Sri H R Seshadri Iyer discovered the wisdom in the acient nadi writings. According to Iyer, one should classify the person according to Yogi, Avayogi and Dugdha Rasis before the actual prediction phase. With this system of analysis sri,Iyer was able to achieve a great level of precision at his predictions. A jyotish predicted that the late Jiddu Krishnamurti would be a great man, which turned out to be true to his predictions.
